First Church of God Youth

Hello all,

Is it just me or is it crazy how fast time is flying this year? We are almost into April and God is doing some great
things with us. Last month we had an awesome time at our Church Walk-a-thon. Just one question though, when did
we become a church of dog walkers? Anyways, it was a great time walking the neighborhood and getting to share with
them who we were and where we were from. Think we helped to get our name out some. Then we had lots of fun at
our theme night. We played a crazy game of indoor baseball with inflatable toys, and had good times in our battle of
the sexes DVD game challenge. I would like to take the time to apologize to the girls for the whooping we had to give
them. Just kidding, it was a really fun time.

We have some things coming up in the next few months. First, is the Youth Sunday and the Youth Banquet on
Sunday, May 3rd. This will be a fun time of getting to lead the church into worship and challenging them to a deeper
relationship with the Lord. And also a great chance to have a tasty meal after church and help the youth and kids to
earn money for camps and IYC. Also our next Theme Night is on April 20th from 6:30 – 8pm. We will be doing a Hang
Out Game Night. Which will include video games, board games, spoons, and possibly fishy fishy. It should be fun.
Some upcoming events I am working on are Broomstick Hockey with Gloria Dei and another church youth group from
Auburn in the summer sometime. Also I am currently trying to plan a trip to Sky High in May. I will get you more
details when they are available. Another thing that has started is the girl’s study that is being led by Wilma Giesser.

Also just wanted to fill you in some on how things are going with the transition in youth. God is doing some really
good things and I’m blessed and thankful to be building up such an awesome leadership team for the youth. So far we
have John and Mary Bertera, Ross and Marybeth Gilleland, Paul Lee, Garrett Eastwood, Kensey Nichols, and Michael
Cameron. And with this teams hard work so far we have started our small group studies on Wednesday nights, have
picked out a DVD series to do during the summer when we are in a hiatus from our small groups, and are looking at
different options for future camps. We have been praying about what would be the best and most beneficial ways for
ministry, camps, and many other things.

And speaking of the changes, we would like to have a youth parent meeting sometime soon to share with you our
ideas and options and let you have a say in the future of the youth ministry also. We will announce the time and day
soon, so pay attention.

And we ask you to pray for a few things, one, that God would guide and lead us in the direction He is calling us to go,
and that we obey and follow His direction. And two, for C-Phrog, the youth worship band. We have a potential
opportunity to enter into a Christian battle of the bands contest to take place at Spirit West Coast. What we would do
is enter a song into the contest, and then they pick the 12 best bands to play 2 songs a piece at SWC. With the winner
going on to play a short set on the main stage of SWC, and getting a chance to win a record deal at the national
contest in Nashville, Tennessee. So, please pray that in that God’s will would be done. We don’t really see ourselves as
being famous ever, but God has done an awesome thing with us in writing music and we want to share that with as
many people as possible. And this would be an awesome opportunity to do that. Overall we are excited about the
direction God is taking the youth and C- Phrog in and have seen a difference in even the short time we have been
changing things. And we know that this is only the beginning.

In His Service,
Jason Gillaspie
